What happens when creativity meets purpose? The result is innovation that can transform societies. The GameUp Africa Jam for Democracy 2024 proves this, showcasing how games can address pressing social issues. Over two weeks, talents from Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya collaborated to create gaming concepts designed to counter malign influence. This event highlights the immense potential of African creativity and teamwork.
A Two-Week Journey of Innovation
From December 9th to 20th, 2024, the GameUp Africa Jam for Democracy provided a structured, immersive experience. The event began with an onboarding and training phase, where participants learned strategies to counter malign influence—a critical challenge in today’s digital age. This was followed by a week of game development, where participants turned ideas into impactful projects.
The results were impressive. 23 teams across three countries submitted 30 unique games, showcasing exceptional talent. Participants also reported a 70% increase in their understanding of malign influence, as shown by pre- and post-event surveys.
